EVELYN CASSELL, 82 ROCKFORD - Evelyn M. Cassell, 82, of Rockford died at 7:20 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 2, 2012, at Rosewood Care Center. Born June 26, 1930, in Rockford, daughter of Elmer and Gunhild M. (Anderson) Johnson. Graduate of East High School class of 1948. She married John F. Cassell on Sept. 20, 1953, in Rockford; he died March 15, 2003. Member of Salem Lutheran Church, where she taught Sunday school and was a member of several church clubs. Evelyn was employed at Greenlee's, Block and Kuhl's, had various jobs through Manpower and sold Tupperware. She loved to sew and bake and volunteered with her daughter's 4-H club. Evelyn's lifelong love for cats gave her and her family endless joy, love and entertainment. She is survived by children, John Cassell of Rockford, Dwight (Aileen) Cassell of Boise, Idaho, Cathleen (John) Scott of Metairie, La., and Carrie Tracy of Janesville, Wis.; grandchildren, Maria, Carla, Carl, Kim and Cindy Cassell, Courtney and Jordan Scott, and Billy and Kyra Tracy; two great-grandchildren; nephews and cousins. Funeral service at 11 a.m. Friday, Aug. 10, at Salem Lutheran Church, 1629 S. Sixth St., with the Rev. William T. Dahlberg officiating. Burial in Arlington Memorial Park.
