George M. Farnham

NILES | George M. Farnham Sr., 60, of Vanderstouw Road, Niles, passed away unexpectedly Jan. 26, 2013 at his home. Born Dec. 12, 1952, he was the son of the late George L. and Julia Kowal Farnham. Butch, as he was known to many, served in the U.S. Navy on the USS Independence. After his discharge, he became a truck driver, where he found his happiness on the road. Over his career, he was employed with Stoyell Trucking, where he traveled all over the country and viewed places much talked about in his later years. He decided to stay closer to home, working for Randolph Trucking and Alnye Trucking, until an unexpected disability. He spent the last few years traveling around the county, visiting his friends, looking for deer and was always "Never Home.� George is survived by four children, sons, George (Christina) Farnham Jr. and Shawn (Katie) Farnham, both of Moravia; daughters, Angel (Kevin) Pitcher, of Auburn and Heather (Kevin) Justian, of Niles; nine grandchildren, Michael, Domanick, Matthew, Blake and Jacob Farnham, Amber Sawyer, Austin Pitcher, Ashley and Jared Justian; three sisters, Georgia Treacy, Mary Kenyon and Sherry Howe. He was predeceased by an infant grandson, Tyler. George also left behind a dear friend, Angel, from the Cobblestone, who helped him in his last year of struggle so unselfishly, that which left behind a lasting impression on his entire family. Calling hours will be held from 5 to 8 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 31 and from 10 to 11 a.m. Friday, Feb. 1, with the funeral service at 11 a.m., at the Wade Funeral Home, 22 Church St., Moravia. In lieu of flowers, please send donations to the West Niles Fire Department, as Butch was not a flower person.
