Having known Grace when she lived on Napoleon Street with Wanda, I enjoyed her company going to the Coronado for shows and downtown Chicago for shopping. One special memory is when my daughter, Rianne—then about 12 years old—and I picked the girls up to go to the Rockford Ballet's production of Cinderella. Before the show, we visited Octane Lounge for dinner and we gave the girls each a small porcelain shoe as a reminder of our special night out. Grace was so kind and told us that we had picked "just the right shoe" for her.
I also remember driving to Water Tower Place in downtown Chicago, again with my daughter and the girls. The girls bought Rianne—this time in her teens—her first eye shadow at the Lancome counter, a lovely dusty lavender. When we were together, Grace always spoke of her granddaughters, roughly Rianne's age, with such loving admiration, the kind that only a grandma can humbly express.
I remember her warm and mild spirit, her thoughtful and loving expressions, and her patience. My family and I are so sorry for your loss. You are all in our prayers.
