Herbert "John" Burt 1925—2016
Herbert "John" Burt, 91, of Rockford, passed away Thursday, September 15, 2016, in Wesley Willows Health Center. He was born January 25, 1925, in Rockford, the son of Edward and Alice Burt. He married Catherine Bureta in Rockford on June 25, 1948. He worked for Rockford Products for 43 years and retired in 1987. Survivors include his wife, Catherine; children, Cathy (Steven) Derr of Rockford and Alan (Nancy Saunders) Burt of Rockford; grandchildren, Lynette Collins of DeKalb and Erik (Winona Swagger) Derr of North Point, FL; great-grandchildren, Emily Johnson, Sara Collins and Riley Collins; siblings, Leonard Burt, George Burt, Joanne (Don) Swinson and Thomas (Sandy) Burt. Predeceased by his parents and siblings, James, Robert, Doris Gotto, Donald, William, Betty Nielsen and Mary Burt. Special thanks and appreciation to Dr. Steven Diamond and the generously caring staff at Wesley Willows for their kindness and compassion.
Memorial service to be held at 11 a.m. Friday, September 23, 2016, in the chapel at Wesley Willows Arbor, (east side of Rockton Ave.), 4141 North Rockton Avenue, Rockford IL 61103.
