Hester Hancock

HESTER HANCOCK, 80 ROCKFORD - Hester Mae (Grayum) Hancock, 80, whose name is written in the Lamb's Book of Life, walked through the pearly gates into the arms of Jesus on November 8, 2014, with family by her side. Born October 12, 1934, in Pollard, AR, the daughter of William Leonard Grayum and Beulah Mae (Satterfield) Grayum. Graduated from Rockford East High School in 1950. Married Robert Lee Hancock on June 8, 1956. She was a faithful and loving wife for 52 years before he preceded her in death in 2008. Hester was dedicated to her family and Jesus Christ. She was greatly loved by her son and daughters: Reba Mae (Hancock) Hill of Wasilla, Alaska married to Elmer Hill and children, Grisel and Nathaniel; Calvin Robert Hancock, his wife, Selena, and children, ReNee, Kayla (married to Clinton Glendenning) and Logan of Stillman Valley, IL; Teresa Lee Hancock of Winnebago, IL; and Rebecca Ann Fritz, her husband, Michael Fritz, and daughter, Kimberly, of Bothell, WA. Survived by her brothers, Leonard Grayum of Arkansas and Bishop Grayum of Rockford, IL and nephews and niece, Larry, Lori and Barry. A dedicated homemaker and a true Proverbs 31 woman serving family and God. She was an ordained minister and loved studying and teaching God's Word. Service 1 p.m., Monday, November 10, 2014, in Sundberg Funeral Home, Ltd., 215 N. Sixth St, Rockford, with Pastor Daniel Hernandez officiating. Visitation at the funeral home from noon until service time on Monday. Wearing purple, her favorite color, is an option. Burial in New Milford Cemetery next to her husband, Robert.
