Irwin Sampson Obituary

IRWIN 'CY' E. SAMPSON, 86 1924 to 2011 TRUTH OR CONSEQUENCES, N.M. - Irwin "Cy" E. Sampson, 86, a resident of the New Mexico State Veterans Home, passed away Sunday, Feb. 27, 2011. Mr. Sampson was a 32nd Degree Mason in Valley of Freeport, Scottish Rite Bodies. Past president of Trout Unlimited in Fort Collins, Colo., as well as past treasurer of Trout Unlimited in Whitefish, Mont. Lifelong member of the Los Lunas VFW. His work career includes 27 years with National Lock Co. in Rockford, Ill. He also owned a resort in Hackensack, Minn., and worked for 12 years for Woodward Governor Co., in Fort Collins, Colo., from which he retired. Veteran of World War II, having served as a master sergeant in Germany and Japan. Member of Valley Lutheran Church. Survived by son, Scott (Kymberly) Sampson of Los Lunas; sister, Billie Sampson; sister-in-law, Ruth Sampson; many nieces, nephews and friends; and his devoted cat, Mozes. Predeceased by his wife of 47 years, Sally E. Bacilek Sampson; parents, William G. Sampson and Pearl Webster Sampson; brother, George Sampson; and many cousins. Private services and Masonic burial rites were held at Noblin Funeral Service, Los Lunas Chapel. Memorial service will be held at a later date at Valley Lutheran Church as well as interment of cremains at Santa Fe National Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, please contribute in his memory to the Alzheimer's Association or the American Lung Association. An online guest register is available at noblinfuneralservice.com.
