James McGrew Obituary

JAMES 'JIM' R. MCGREW, SR., 74 ROSCOE - James "Jim" R. McGrew Sr., 74, of Roscoe died Friday, Aug. 17, 2012, at home, with his wife Alice, Stephen Ministers, Bob and Nancy Clark, and Hospice by his side. Born Aug. 23, 1938, in Superior, Wis., to Robert and Delia (Hunker) McGrew. He attended Cathedral Catholic School and Superior Central High School. Most of his adult life was spent in Milwaukee. He worked at Maynard Steel and retired in 1967 as the melt superintendent. He married Alice Lukas Yule on Aug. 2, 1986. They retired to Bella Vista, Ark., for nine years and returned to the Midwest to live in Roscoe. Survived by wife, Alice; daughters, Gina Smukala, Holly Brunke and Shari McGrew; sons, James McGrew Jr. and Dean (Nancy) McGrew; grandchildren, Robbie, Michael and Andrew Smukala, Michaela and Alex Brunke, Kara and Joe McGrew, Ashley and Shannon McGrew; great-grandchildren, Ava Stys, Aiden and Olivia McGrew; step-daughters, Christina (Philip) Lear and Debra (Gary) Heiber; and stepgrandson and best friend, Michael Heiber; sisters, Diane Laible and Barbara Lukas; and brother, Dennis (Dianna) McGrew. Predeceased by parents; brother, Emmett; and sister, Mary. A Celebration of Life will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 29, at Roscoe United Methodist Church, 10816 Main St., with the Rev. Dr. Paul Meyers officiating. Visitation at 10 a.m. Saturday at the church. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Roscoe UMC or Beloit Regional Hospice.
