James Nilson Obituary

JAMES W. NILSON, 75 ROCKFORD - James W. Nilson, 75, of Rockford passed away Sunday, Aug. 2, 2009, in his home. Born June 8, 1934, in Rockford; son of Joseph "Big Joe the Plumber" and Helen (Wetters) Nilson. James was a veteran, serving with the U.S. Army. James was employed as a salesman, for Henry Lindberg and later motor homes and used cars. He loved his music and his organ, also enjoyed tinkering on old lawn mowers. Survivors include daughters, Bonnie (Steve) Thomason and Katy (Gary) Koeller; grandchildren, Christopher, Nicholas and Justin (Katie); great-granddaughter, Elizabeth. Predeceased by parents, and sisters, Betty and Dorothy. Graveside service at 1 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 6, in Scandinavian Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials to Heartland Hospice. My heart goes out to the family-I met Jim 6 years ago when I bought the house across the street from him. Jim was a friendly and sincere person. He will be missed.
