Janet Ann Kjellstrom 1925—2017
Janet Ann Kjellstrom died June 26, 2017, after a prolonged illness. Janet was the daughter of John (Bert) and Margaret Luebke Kjellstrom. She was born January 14, 1925. A lifelong resident of Rockford, Janet graduated from Rockford East High School and was employed at J.L. Clark Manufacturing Company for 39 years. Janet was an active member of Emmanuel Lutheran Church where she spent many years on the church council, finance and stewardship committees. Janet was very interested in the Performing Arts, serving on many boards. She was a donor and benefactor to numerous organizations. Janet was lifetime member of the YMCA, Tinker Cottage and Forest Hill Country Club. She was a volunteer and donor to P.A. Peterson Home, United Way, Midway Village Museum, Nicholas Conservatory, The Boys and Girls Club, Rockford Lutheran Schools along with many local schools and hospitals. She received numerous awards for her philanthropy, among them the Spirit of Caring Award from Crusader Clinic in 2008. Her love for Rockford and her charitable giving led to her being given the Outstanding Philanthropist Award at National Philanthropy Day in 2000. Janet had a love for travel. Her extensive travels took her to many countries and locations throughout the world. Janet loved spending time in the north woods, where she enjoyed boating, fishing and dining out with her many friends. Janet is survived by her many, many friends who will miss her dearly.
Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Monday, July 3, 2017, at Emmanuel Lutheran Church, with visitation from 9:30 a.m. to time of service.
