Janice Jones Obituary

Janice Margaret Jones 1942—2016
Janice Margaret Jones, 74, went to be with the Lord on Friday, December 23, 2016, at her Belvidere home, surrounded by her loving family. She was born February 24, 1942, in Chicago to the late John and Dorothy (Peters) Fischer. Janice was a devoted and loving wife, mother, grandmother, daughter, sister, aunt, and friend. She was married to the love of her life on May 4, 1963, at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Addison. Janice was a selfless, beautiful soul who always put the needs of others before her own. She enjoyed gardening, driving her miniature horses, and most of all, spending time with her beloved family. In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her grandson, Zachary Charles Lee Brotz. Janice is survived by her loving husband of 53 years, Onvie Lee Jones; sons, John (Debra) Jones of Oceanside, CA, and Charles (Izumi) Jones of Belvidere; daughters, Dorothy (Ronald) Brotz of Garden Prairie and Becky (Edward) Krieger of Belvidere; grandchildren, Danielle Brotz, Alexander Jones, Erica Jones, Timothy (Laura) Krieger, and Matthew Krieger; sisters, Melody (Donald) Calvert of Haines City, FL, and Dorothy (Mark) Hopkins of Lakeland, FL; brother-in-law, Erick Erickson of Lake Wales, FL; and several beloved nieces and nephews.
A private family service will be held at a later date to honor Janice's memory. She will be greatly missed and will forever live on in our hearts.

I was searching for Jan, then found her obituary. I tried to find her about 10 years ago, to no avail.
Jan and I ( Melody) grew up together in Addison, Il.
My condolences to her family. I wish I could have found her before her passing.
I have many great memories of her and the crazy antics we had into our teens.
One of my favorites was following my dad as he plowed up the back yard. We followed him and gathered up worms and put them into a gallon bottle. When we had it completely filled, we took it to Jan’s house and dumped them out for their two ducks Donald and Daisy. They gobbled them up like spaghetti.
I’ve thought of you often Jan and now, miss you even more. Renee

Remembering my other Mom today... and sending love to my 2nd family. What a true blessing Janice was and a real light in this world. May peace and love surround you all, and may you feel the warm embrace of her love all around you... not just today but always.

No words can truly describe how very sorry I am for your loss. The world is just not the same without Mrs. Jones, who was a true lady and a role model for kindness, patience, and love. When I think of Mrs. Jones, I think of her smile, which gently lit up any room she was in. She was so wise and giving, and she was always so kind to my family and to me. I feel blessed to have known her. I will keep you all in my prayers. I send you my love.

Many of my happiest memories as a kid were spent with my cousins, Uncle Lee and our beloved Aunt Janice. She was an exceptional example of how to live a complete life and how to love and prioritize your family. She always made sure that you felt at home when visiting and always had a tear in her eye when it was time to say goodbye. The tears are in our eyes now. The Calvert family will miss her dearly and will think of her often. Rest in peace. You are truly a beautiful soul. Donny
