Jeanne Floberg Obituary

JEANNE REITSCH FLOBERG, 85 ROCKTON - Jeanne Reitsch Floberg, 85, Rockton, and Sun Lakes, AZ., passed away Friday, October 9, 2015 at Rockford Memorial Hospital. She was born August 26, 1930, in Rockford, the daughter of Robert "OB" and Marion (Armstrong) Reitsch. She married John A. Floberg in Rockford, on June 26, 1954. He predeceased her in 2004. Jeanne graduated from Rockford West High School, Class of 1948. She then graduated from National College of Education in Evanston in 1952, where she earned her teaching degree. She went on to teach 5th and 6th grades at John Nelson School in Rockford. Jeanne was an active member of many organizations, lending her ability to be an integral part of positive change and service, through her knack of building community wherever she went. She was Past President of the Rock River Valley Council of Girl Scouts, she served on the board of the American Red Cross, served as the President of the Rockford Memorial Hospital Auxiliary, was a proud member of the P.E.O. Sisterhood, member of the University Club of Rockford, and a longtime member of the Rockford Country Club, and the Happy Hookers golf league at the Red Barn Golf Course. Most importantly, she was the "social director" for her friends and family. Jeanne was always coming up with reasons for gatherings, complete with much love, laughter and games. She spent many years researching ancestry, writing the history and memories of the Reitsch and the Floberg families. She published her books, "The House That Reitsch Built" and "Home is Where the Heart Is". She is survived by her daughters, Katherine (David) Kufahl of Golden Valley, MN., Susan Floberg McDonald of Nethers, VA., and Marianne (Marty) Kaiser of Rockton; delighted by 6 grandchildren, Molly (Mike) Peterson, Amanda McDonald, Erika Kufahl, Kelly (Philip) Mach, Gregory (Megan) Kufahl, Nathan Kaiser; her brother, Robert A. (Sharon) Reitsch of Rockford; her daughter-in-law, Alice Floberg of Belvidere, several nieces and nephews, and her special lifelong friend, John Dresely of Winchester, VA. Predeceased by her husband, John, her son David Floberg, her parents and in-laws, her sister-in law, Jaci Reitsch. A memorial service will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday, October 17, 2015, at The Old Stone Church, 101 East Union Street, Rockton. Private family burial in Greenwood Cemetery. Jeanne would be thrilled that any memorials be sent somewhere that is near and dear to your heart. Her favorite one is the Rockford Memorial Hospital Auxiliary. Jeanne was a friend that brought me so many happy memories...along with wonderful New Year Eve gathering together to play our games. I look forward to seeing her warming smile in heaven. Peace to Jeanne and her family. Barbara Todd.
