Jeanne M. Olson, 88, of Rockford passed away peacefully on Wednesday, January 24, 2018. She was born on June 29, 1929, in Rockford, IL, the daughter of Roy and Nola (Axley) Floody. Jeanne graduated from Rockford East High School in 1947. She married Roger W. Olson on September 2, 1954, at Bethesda Covenant Church in Rockford. Jeanne and Roger celebrated their 63rd wedding anniversary this past year. Jeanne worked for 26 years as the office manager for her brother Roger at the RR Floody Company. Jeanne enjoyed the company of her women's fellowship group through the years as well as the comfort and ministry of Bethesda Covenant Church. She liked to collect owls and do jigsaw puzzles. Jeanne sewed and taught her granddaughters how to knit. She was devoted to her team, the Chicago Cubs, throughout the years and was proud to know that they clinched the World Series in 2016. Above all, she loved the Lord and maintained an active prayer and devotional life. Jeanne loved her children, Steve Olson (Kathy) and Mitch Olson (Sharon), both of Rockford; grandchildren, Krista Jeanne (Brad) Chamberlain of Belleville, MI; Kara (Tanous) El-Kareh of Aurora, IL, Laura Olson (Jake Anderson) of Plano, IL, Rachael Olson of Rockford, Traydell Olson of Rockford, and Thedell Olson of Rockford; and great-grandson, Lucas Mitchell Chamberlain of Belleville. Predeceased by her brother, Roger (Pat) Floody. She loved the special company of her pug Pudgy and in later years her dachshund, Cleo, a devoted pet and joy of her life. A memorial service for Jeanne will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, February 24, 2018 at Bethesda Covenant Church at 2101 East State Street, Rockford, IL.
