John Edwards Obituary
Edwards, 82, of NV, formerly of Rockford, passed away at 3 p.m. Wednesday, September 2, 2015, in his home, after a lengthy illness, with his wife and son at his side. Born August 17, 1933, in Rockford, son of Wilhelm and Veronica Edwards. He married Mary Spataro on April 8, 1967. John worked for National Lock for 25 years and then Wellman Plastics until his retirement in 2000. He enjoyed fishing and watching the Cubs and Bears games. Survivors include his loving wife, Mary; son, John (Darlene) Edwards of NV; daughter, Jennifer (Christoph) Hoedl of CT; grandchildren, Zachary and Emily Hoedl; brothers, William Edwards of CA, Jerome (Bobbie) Edwards of MD; loving sisters-in-law, Jo Cero, Angie Pirrello, Toni Farruggia, Sylvia Hendricks, Pat (Gene) Czerniewski of Rockford, and Beverly Spataro of AZ; numerous nieces and nephews; and loving pets, Co-Co, Wrigley, Ruby and Max. He was predeceased by his parents; sister-in-law, Cathy Edwards; brothers-in-law, Jay Cero, Joe Pirrello, Tony Farruggia and Joe Hendricks. Funeral Mass will be at 10:30 a.m. Monday September 14, 2015, in St. Anthony Church, with Franciscan Friars officiating. Entombment to follow in Calvary Mausoleum. Visitation will be Monday morning in the church from 9 a.m. until service time. In lieu of flowers, memorials to the family. I have many fond memories from my childhood spending time with John, Mary, Johnny and Jennifer. They have been dear friends of my parents for as long as I can remember. Summer vacations at Lake Mills, barbecues and badmitten in our back yards, playing pool with John and my Dad in John and Mary's basement in Rockford, and of course I can't forget John always offered me a kiddie cocktail. I will always remember John as a fun loving man that made us all laugh. My sincere condolences to John's family.
