John Vittetow Obituary

JOHN 'JACK' F. VITTETOW ARCADIA, FL - John (Jack) F. Vittetow passed away on December 8th, 2015, in his winter home in Arcadia, Florida, due to pneumonia. Jack was born March 16th, 1935, in Aurora, Illinois to Frank and Dorothy (Anderson) Vittetow. He was raised in Rockford and graduated from Rockford East High School in 1954. Jack was employed by Illinois Bell/AT&T for over thirty years and retired in 1990. He also served as a reservist for the National Guard. He was an avid fisherman, private pilot, carpenter and loved his Chicago Bears. He loved to be busy. Jack is survived by his wife, Pat; daughter, Deann (Robert) Pennington, Bonner Springs, Kansas; grandchildren, Heather Pennington, Buford, Georgia, Grace Pennington, Bonner Springs, Kansas, and Mackenzie Mielczarek, Williams Bay, Wisconsin; son-in-law, Jeffrey Mielczarek; brothers, Steve (Jean) Vittetow, Omaha, Arkansas and William Vittetow, Rockford, Illinois; Pat's children, Vaughn (Janet) Voelker, Steve Voelker and Kay (Mark) Pemberton, all of Altamont, IL; with seven more grandchildren and four great-grandchildren; his beloved dog, Tippy; and his former wife, Diane Billert of Rockford. He was predeceased by his parents and daughter, Debra Mielczarek (2010). A special thank you to all the staff at Bayfront Medical Center, Punta Gorda, Florida for all the wonderful care he received while there. He smiled so much due to their loving care. Private services to be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made to Wounded Warriors Project in Jack's name. Woundedwarriorproject.org/
