JOYCE SCHOENHARDT, 70 GALENA - Joyce Schoenhardt, 70, of Galena, formerly of Scales Mound, died Sunday, July 13, 2008, in Galena-Stauss Nursing Ho-me. She was born Oct. 1, 1937, in Galena, daughter of Leo Molitor and Ethyl (Curtis) (Molitor) Monahan. She married Harland Austin 'Bootsie' Schoenhardt on April 28, 1962, in Galena; he died March 1992. She worked at Morrison Bros. Foundry in Dubuque, Iowa, Atwoods in Stockton and Advance/Phillips Electronics in Monroe, Wis. An avid reader, she loved crosswords, the colorful leaves of autumn, but most of all her family and friends. She was a champion of people and animals in need of a helping hand. Survived by sons, Brian (Lynn) of Rockton and Joseph (Teri) of Hillside; daughter, Leslie Renae (Michael) Vesconte of Westchester; brothers, Floyd (Marleen) Molitor of Scales Mound, Leo Molitor and James (Vincennes) Molitor of Rehoboth Beach, Del.; sisters, Rose 'Rosie' Marie Davis of Dubuque, Iowa and Susie (Richard) Brimeyer of East Dubuque; grandchildren, Ben, Alex, Joshua, Rachael, Justin, Abriana and Isabella; a niece and several nephews; and sister-in-law, Virginia Schoenhardt Laity. Predeceased also by daughter, Reva Michele at birth; and beloved grandson, Michael Austin Schoenhardt. Service at 10:30 a.m. Thursday, July 17, in Furlong Funeral Chapel, 100 Carol-don Court, Galena. Burial in Scales Mound Township Cemetery, Scales Mound. Friends may call from 3 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, July 16, in the funeral chapel. Joyce Schoenhardt Memorial Fund has been established.
