Lois Anderson Obituary

LOIS M. ANDERSON, 79 ROCKFORD - Lois M. Anderson, 79, of Rockford died at 12:45 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 13, 2009, in Swedish American Hospital. Born July 8, 1930, in Rockford, the daughter of William and Annie (Gustafson) Gustafson. Married Robert R. Anderson on Jan. 27, 1951, in Salem Lutheran Church in Rockford. Lois was an active member at Salem, and served as the financial secretary and librarian. Former librarian at Marsh and Brookview schools. Also a member of East High Class of 1948 Reunion Committee. She enjoyed cooking and having the family together at her house during the holidays and for birthdays. Survived by husband, Robert; sons, Tom (Brenda) and Barton Anderson, all of Rockford; grandchildren, Christina, Caroline, Scott and Jordan; brother, Roland (Gale) Gustafson; brother in-law, Bruce (Bev) Anderson; and numerous cousins, nieces and nephews. The family wishes to express their sincere appreciation to the staff of Swedish American Hospital. Service at 11 a.m. Thursday, Dec. 17, in Salem Lutheran Church, 1629 S. Sixth St., with the Rev. William Dahlberg officiating. Private family burial after fellowship at the church Visitation from 5 to 7 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 16, in the Fred C. Olson Chapel, 1001 Second Ave., and from 10 to 10:45 a.m. Thursday in the church. Memorials may be made to Salem Lutheran Church. To share a memory or condolence, visit olsonfh.com.

My deepest sympathy for your loss Bob and family.Lois was a special person to her Salem church families as she always had a helping hand. Bob you and Lois where special people to my folks and grandparents on 13th ave as neighbors and church members.
Lois's mother altered my mothers wedding dress for my wedding.

Lois was such a cheerful and happy person and she made everyone feel special. I knew her because her mom Annie and my mom, Cora Carlson were friends through Elim Baptist church.

I remember Lois as a kind and joyful woman. Her mother made me my graduation (from Turner Grade School) dress - I was so proud of that dress. Whenever I would see Lois, she always had a smile on her face and we would recall our mutual Swedish friends in Rockford.
