Margaret Sowle

MARGARET 'PEG' SOWLE, 72 ROCKFORD - Margaret "Peg" Sowle, 72 of Rockford, IL passed away Monday August 25, 2014 at Rockford Memorial Hospital. She was born February 8, 1942 in Rockford, IL the daughter of Raymond and Margaret (Spillane) Leifker. Peg was united in marriage to Dr. William H. Sowle D.D.S. in Rockford and he preceded her in death in 2005. She worked for her husband as a dental assistant for many years. Peg was an accomplished Rockford artist and considered her fellow artists as her second family. She loved her dogs and enjoyed riding horses. Peg was a loving grandmother and cherished her grandchildren. She was a member of the Rockford Women's Art Guild and a devout member of St. Bridget's Catholic Church. She is survived by her two children, Cindy (Scott) Platt of Stockton, IL and Jeff (Tracy) Sowle of Machesney Park, three grandchildren, Bryce, Katie and Danyelle, one sister, Karole (Marvin) Frank of Chicago. She was preceded in death by her parents, a brother, Robert Leifker. The family wishes to extend a special thank you to OSF Hospice and to Mary Rodden for their compassion and care. Funeral mass will be held 11 a.m, Thursday, August 28, 2014 at St. Bridget's Catholic Church, Loves Park where friends may call after 9:30 a.m. at the Church.
