Marilyn Olson Obituary
Marilyn E. Olson, 88, a lifelong resident of Rockford, Illinois passed away July 19, 2017. She was the daughter of Arvid and Esther Wigell. A graduate of East High School, she was employed at the Rockford Public Library as a bookkeeper. Marilyn was gifted with a classical soprano voice and performed as a soloist at churches. She met John B. Olson, WWII veteran, and they were married for over 50 years. Marilyn was a longstanding member of her "Pot Luck" group of friends. She and her friend, Janet volunteered at Tabor Lutheran Church and helped many brides experience a seamless wedding ceremony. Marilyn was a tireless caregiver for her daughter, Gayle, who faced many health challenges. Her survivor is daughter, Monica (Kurt) Smith.
Service at 1 p.m. July 26, 2017, in Tabor Lutheran Church, 2233 12th Ave, with Pastor Jane McChesney officiating. Burial in Scandinavian Cemetery, no visitation. To share a memory or send a condolence, visit www.olsonfh.com.
