Marilyn Wigell Obituary
Marilyn L. Wigell, 90, of Rockford, passed away on December 6, 2018. She was born on December 16, 1927 in Rockford, the daughter of Herbert and Myrtle (Steele) Larson. Marilyn married Arthur Wigell on September 3, 1949 in Rockford. He predeceased her on August 25, 1993. Marilyn was an office manager for Moore Bros. Real Estate. She was a lifelong member of Zion Lutheran Church. She loved to bake, especially Swedish cookies, loved all dogs and traveling. Marilyn was a master gardener, member of Red Hat Society, and enjoyed ballroom dance with the Arthur Murray crew. She said, "old age ain't for sissies." Survivors include her sons, Gary (Jerrilyn) and Gregg (Nancy) Wigell; grandchildren, Karissa (Josh) Heyden and David Wigell; great-grandchildren, Chloe, Ezra, and Amelia; brother, Ralph (Judy) Larson; several cousins, nephews, nieces, and special friends. Predeceased by husband, Arthur; and sister, Helen (Don) Carlson. Special thanks to the staffs of Lincolnshire Place and Transitions Hospice.
Services will be held at 2:00 pm, Saturday, December 15, 2018 in Zion Lutheran Church, 925 5th Ave., Rockford, IL 61104 with Rev. Dr. Michael Thomas officiating. Visitation will be prior to the service from 1:00 to 1:45 pm. Private burial at Sunset Memorial Gardens. Memorials may be made to Zion Lutheran Church. Deepest Condolences to Marilyn's family. I lived across the street on St Anne's for 30 plus years. We share the newspaper as a way to keep an eye on each other. She spent a lot of time working in her yard. Arthur and her raised a great family and were proud of all of them. She was a really classic woman and will be missed. May God comfort her family.

Marilyn was a wonderful lady with a heart of gold. We will miss her dearly and remember all the fun times with her fondly. Very special and sweet lady.
