Marion Johnson Obituary

Marion E. Johnson 1930—2017
Marion E. Johnson, 87, formerly of Rockford, passed away July 18, 2017, at the Holmstad in Batavia, IL. She was born March 23, 1930, in Rockford, the daughter of Bernhard and Edith (Lybeck) Rosell. She married Carl A. Johnson on February 9, 1952, in Rockford. He predeceased her June 22, 2003. Marion was the financial secretary for First Evangelical Covenant Church until leaving Rockford in 1980. She was active at all of the Covenant churches she attended, especially in music-related ministries. Her passion for music continued in her retirement, as she regularly played piano for fellow residents at the Holmstad. Marion had a lifelong love of butterflies. Survivors include her children, Carl (Diane) Johnson and Faye (Tony) Maresh; grandchildren, Lynnelle and Lyndsey Johnson and Scott and Marianne Maresh.
Graveside service will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday, July 26, 2017, at Scandinavian Cemetery, Rockford, IL. Memorials may be made to Dr. Charles Stanley's In Touch Ministries, 3836 DeKalb Technology Parkway, Atlanta, Georgia, 30340 or a charity of your choice. A memorial service is pending at a later date at Holmstad Retirement Community in Batavia, IL. Arrangements by Olson Funeral & Cremation Services, Ltd.
