MARTHA J. SWART, 82 ROCKFORD - Martha J. Swart, 82, of Rockford passed away Sunday, Aug. 11, 2013, at Swedish American Hospital, after a short illness. Born Nov. 29, 1930, in Rockford, daughter of Gustav G. and Ruth (Johnson) Gustafson. She graduated from East High School in June 1948. Married Allen D. Swart on Sept. 3, 1948. Martha worked as a server at the Barber Colman cafeteria and then Swedish American Hospital for many years before retiring. She was a long standing member at Evergreen Covenant Church. She loved traveling, camping, spending time with her grandchildren, tending the flowers on her porch and feeding the birds. Survivors include husband, Al; daughters, Karen (Don) Gallisath and Mary (Michael) Jones; grandchildren, Joshua Jones, triplets, Lindsay, Logan and Lance Jones, Jason (Phyllis) Gallisath and Jeff Gallisath; great-grandchildren, Taiah Gallisath and Lydia Burdick; several nieces and nephews who dearly loved their "Auntie Mart". Predeceased by her parents; son, Mark; sisters, Signild "Sigie" Johnson and Virginia "Jean" Ottoson. Service at 1 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 15, at Delehanty Funeral Home Ltd., 401 River Lane, Loves Park, the Rev. James W. Schwalm will officiate. Burial in North Burritt Cemetery.
