Muriel Roggensack Obituary

MURIEL C. ROGGENSACK, 80 ROCKFORD - Muriel C. Roggensack, 80, of Rockford died peacefully in her home surrounded by her family on Thursday, May 30, 2013. She was born on September 19, 1932 in Blair, Nebraska the youngest daughter of Charles and Marion (Kindred) Gustin. She married Melvin C. Roggensack on August 5, 1950. He predeceased her in death on March 15, 1979. Muriel graduated from East High School in 1950. She was retired from Elco Tool where she had been employed as an inspector for over 30 years. Muriel loved to work in her flower gardens, and enjoyed watching the birds and wildlife at her back yard bird feeder. She enjoyed crafts especially making quilts with her sisters and nieces. She loved spending time with her family and especially enjoyed the family cookouts at the farm. She loved giraffes and acquired quite a collection over the years most of them being gifts from her loved ones. Survivors include 2 sons, Melvin Roggensack of Rockford, Ronald (Lisa) Roggensack of Rockford, 2 daughters, Sharon (Larry) Crimmins of Bettendorf, Iowa, Linda Gillespie of Rockford, 15 grandchildren, 21 great-grandchildren, 2 great-great-grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased in death by her parents, special companion Wayne Kliebe, 2 brothers, 3 sisters, 1 daughter-in-law, 1 son-in-law, and 1 great-grandson. The family would like to offer a special thanks to Beverly and Lavonne who were always there for her throughout the years, Lisa, Donna, and Fran who were her primary caregivers, and the nurses and staff of OSF Hospice who provided great care and support to the family. The services will be held at Sundberg Funeral Home, 215 N Sixth Street, Rockford, Illinois with Pastor Wayne Hodge officiating. Burial will be at Greenwood Cemetery. The visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Sunday, June 2, and the funeral will be at 11 a.m. on Monday, June 3. Memorials may be made to the family.
