Norman Schesvold Obituary

NORMAN T. SCHESVOLD, 91 ROCKFORD - Norman T. Schesvold, 91, of Rockford, passed away Thursday, November 13, 2014, in Fairhaven Christian Retirement Center. Born Feb. 25, 1923, in Rice Lake, Wis., the son of Peter and Bertha (Roen) Schesvold. He was a Corporal in the U.S. Army during World War II in Japan. He married Elinor G. Porath Dec. 1, 1946, in Rice Lake; she predeceased him June 12, 2009. Norman was a welder for more than 30 years at Twin Disc Company, retiring in 1983. He attended First Evangelical Free Church. He is survived by his children, Beverly (Gary) Oberg of Rockford, Barbara (Ralph) Brown of Bastrop, Texas, and Gloria (Jim Fuchs) Schesvold of Machesney Park; grandchildren, Karrie (Jason) LaCroix, Brent (Kim) Oberg, Corina (Steve) Conti, and Erichea Conti; step-grandson, William Brown; ten great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; brothers, Bob Schesvold of Fargo, N.D. and Joseph Schesvold of Missouri; brother-in-law, Roger (Marge) Porath of Yucca Valley, Calif.; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins. Predeceased by brother and sister-in-law, Reuben and Clara Schesvold; great-granddaughter, Emma LaCroix; and granddaughter, Veronica Winters. Funeral service will be at 1 p.m. Monday, Nov. 17, 2014, in the chapel at Fairhaven Christian Retirement Center, 3470 N. Alpine Rd., with Pastor Arnie Conrad officiating. Burial in Scandinavian Cemetery. Visitation from 12 to 12:45 p.m. prior to the service at Fairhaven. Memorials may be made to the United Mitochondrial Disease Foundation, 8085 Saltsburg Rd., Suite 201, Pittsburgh, PA 15239. Arrangements by Olson Funeral & Cremation Services, Ltd. We were happy to call Norm & Elinor our neighbors during our 30 years there on Lexington Way. Some of our best visits were when he was walking home with the day's newspaper. Our deepest sympathies to your family.
