Phyllis Severin Obituary
Phyllis L. Severin, 90, of Rockford passed away Friday, December 29, 2017. Born September 22, 1927, in Belvidere; the daughter of Robert and Lelia (Meline) Horan. Graduate of Rockford East High School. She married Armer E. Severin July 17, 1948, in Rockford. Phyllis worked at Hembrough Buick for many years. She was a member of Ladies of the Nile, and was President of the YWCA for 20 years. She was active at Little Peoples Place, and the Erlander Museum. Phyllis and her husband were honored as volunteers of the year. She is survived by her husband, Armer; children, Kristi (Mike) Myatt of Flint, MI, Karin Severin of Rockford, Kandis (Beth) Severin of Madison, WI, and Karl (Vicki) Severin of Waterford, CT; grandchildren, Stewart Davis, Kara Myatt, Cody, and Kacey Severin; and a large extended family. Predeceased by her sister, Kay Futch.
Funeral service will be at 1:30 p.m. Thursday, January 4, 2018, in Olson Funeral & Cremation Services, Ltd., Fred C. Olson Chapel, 1001 2nd Ave., with Rev. Dean Parker officiating. Burial in Arlington Memorial Park. Visitation will be from 12:30 to 1:15 p.m. Thursday, prior to the service in the Fred C. Olson Chapel. Family prefers memorials to the Erlander Museum, 404 S. 3rd Street, Rockford, IL 61104 or Midway Village Museum, 6799 Guilford Road, Rockford, IL 61107. Armer, I want to tell you how sorry I am to hear of Phyl's passing. You are the last person that I need to tell of all the hours Phyl and I spent together with the YW as President/Executive Director trying to solve problems and travelling together. But, most of all, we became great friends. You and she have contributed so much to this community. Phyl will be greatly missed! I can't help but smile when I think of her! You and your family will be kept in my daily prayers.

Armer, Barb and I would like to extend our sincerest sympathies to you and the family. We will never for get that grand sense of humor she had and the way she could tell a story with that great put on Sweedish accent. She was always a joy to be around.
