RICHARD WILLIAM MCKNIGHT, 80 MONROE CENTER - Richard William McKnight, 80, of Monroe Center, passed away peacefully Thursday April 23, 2015. He was born Oct. 22, 1934, in Sublette, IL the son of Earl and Alice (Fetzer) McKnight. He married Beverly June Kruger in Monroe Center on April 12, 1959. Richard graduated from Monroe Center High School in 1952, and served in the Army from 1956-1958. He formerly worked at Swift's in Rochelle for 18 years, and retired after 17 years from the maintenance department of NIU in DeKalb. He was on the Monroe Center Fire Dept. and was a 54 year member of the Eagles Club. His hobbies included bowling and most all other sports, especially the Cubs, Bears, and Bulls. Survivors include his wife, Beverly; daughter, Becky Beach of Monroe Center; sons, Rick (Terese) McKnight of Monroe Center, Steve (Kathy) McKnight of Garden Prairie, IL, Dave McKnight of Monroe Center, and Tim McKnight of San Diego, CA; 9 grandchildren; 2 great- grandchildren; brothers, James (Joyce) McKnight of Rockford and Kenneth (Leila) McKnight of Monroe Center; and brother-in-law, Howard Gipson of Stillman Valley. He was preceded in death by his parents and a sister, Luella Gipson. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, April 29, 2015, in the Farrell-Holland-Gale Funeral Home, 136 W. Roosevelt Rd., Stillman Valley. Burial will be in Monroe Center Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 5 to 8 p.m. Tuesday in the funeral home.
