Robert Bergholtz Obituary

ROBERT G. BERGHOLTZ, 82 ROCKFORD - Robert G. Bergholtz, 82, of Rockford died Wednesday, Nov. 16, 2011, at home. Born Sept. 1, 1929, in Chicago; son of Henry K. and Regina C. (Beckman) Bergholtz. Lived 77 years in Rockford, coming here from Chicago. Married Donna M. Illyes on June 25, 1955, in Aurora. Bob was formerly a supervisor for the Winnebago County Department of Public Aid for 29 years, retiring in 1990. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army, serving during the Korean Conflict from 1952 to 1954, and the standby reserve from 1954 to 1960. He was a member of Court Street United Methodist Church, a avid fan of the Chicago Cubs and Bears, and enjoyed traveling and time with his family. Graduated from Rockford East High in 1948, and Bradley University in 1952. Survivors include, son, Jon Bergholtz of Saginaw, Mich.; daughters, Jennifer Snow of Rockford and Jill (Al) Barrera of Caledonia; grandchildren, Nathan, Bryan, Alyssa and Scott Snow, Sarah, Samantha and Shelby Bergholtz, Jessica, Amanda and Robert Barrera; and great-granddaughters, Gracie Lynne Snow and Kaylee Baltazar; Predeceased by his parents; wife, Donna; son, Jeff; and brother, Edward. Service at 1 p.m. Monday, Nov. 21, in Court Street United Methodist Church, 215 N. Court St., with the Rev. Calvin Culpepper, pastor, officiating. Visitation from 3 to 5 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 20, at Anderson-Long-Klontz Funeral Home & Cremation Services Ltd., 6825 Weaver Road, and from 12:15 p.m. Monday to service time in the church. In lieu of flowers, Memorials may be given to the Rockford Chapter of the American Cancer Society, 4312 E. State St. Suite 1, Rockford, IL 61108. Arrangements by Anderson-Long-Klontz Funeral Home & Cremation Services Ltd., 6825 Weaver Road.
