Robert Buzzell

Robert Catlin Buzzell, 86 NEW YORK CITY - Robert Catlin Buzzell, 86, of New York City died Friday, Dec. 17, 2010. Born Dec. 12, 1924, in Rockford, Ill., the son of Merrill and Ruth (Catlin) Buzzell. Attended Rockford High School, with his senior year at East High School. Many times he mentioned he was a student in the first class to graduate from the new East High School in 1941. He served in the Navy for four years during World War II. After leaving the service, he went to Los Angeles, where he attended two years at the Pasadena Playhouse School. He then moved to New York City to enter technical theater work on Broadway as an actor, production manager, producer, stage manager. Retired in the late 1990s, he remained in New York City. Survivors include son, Robert Kortlucke; grandson, Steven of Lawrence, Kan.; sisters, Merrilyn Cass, Patricia Black of Rockford, Leora Kelly of Morrison and Nancy Cuthbertson of Pecatonica; many nieces and nephews; and special friend, Portia Bohne.
