ROBERT D. STROMDAHL, 86 ROCKFORD - Robert D. Stromdahl, 86, of Rockford, passed away Friday, October 4, 2013. Born, October 15, 1926, in Rockford, son of Harry and Laura (Powell) Stromdahl. He graduated from East High School in 1944, and was a veteran of the US Army. Bob married Maxine Swanson on October 5, 1951, in Rockford. He was employed by Commonwealth Edison as a groundman, and retired after many years of service. Bob loved the game of baseball. He played as a first baseman for many years in the local factory leagues, and always cheered for the New York Yankees. After retirement, Bobs favorite morning activity was taking strolls through Bauman park with his faithful companion Daisy, the family dog. He was a good dad and grandfather, who loved and enjoyed his family. Survivors include, his loving wife, Maxine; children, Nancy (Chuck) Quinzio, and Scott Stromdahl; grandchildren, Caitlin, Andrew, and Elizabeth Quinzio; sister, Lelah Swenson; nieces, Connie (David) Kiefer, and Joanie (John) Noonan; nephew, Ron (Joe Neumaier) Anderson. He is preceded in death by his parents; and sisters, Jeannie Anderson, and Betty Hutchinson. Memorial Service 11 a.m. Thursday, October 10, at Salem Lutheran Church, 1629 S 6th St Rockford. Pastor Bill Dahlberg officiating. Memorial visitation 10 to 10:45 a.m., Thursday, October 10, at the church.
