ROBERTA 'sandy' A. HENSLEY, 84 ROCKFORD - Roberta "Sandy" A. Hensley, 84, died April 14, 2015, at Fairhaven Christian Retirement Center. Born Dec. 7, 1930, in Rockford, the daughter of Ehlert and Hattie (Holmstrom) Sand. Roberta graduated from East High School. Roberta worked in sales at Bergner's and then Golden Dolphin Bath Shop prior to working as a receptionist at Rockford Mutual Insurance Co. She was a member of Zion Lutheran Church where she participated in the Sarah Circle and was also a member of John Nelson School Mother Study. Survived by her children, Linda (Bart) Paul of Rockford, Pamela (Eugene) Surmo of Cherry Valley, Danny Hensley of Norco, CA, Lori (Joe) Tarara of Rockford, and Jill (Kurt) Pearson of Rockton; grandchildren, Amy, Brian; Chad (Tracy), Katie; Danny, David, Mark; Gina, Adam, Nino; Chad, Nolan; and 5 great-grandchildren. Predeceased by her parents; special aunt, Helga Holmstrom; and brother, Robert (Elsie) Sand. A special thank you to all the staff at Fairhaven Christian Retirement Center and Northern Illinois Hospice for their exceptional care, support, and kindness. Memorial services will be 11 a.m. Saturday, April 18, 2015, in Olson Funeral Home & Cremation Services, Ltd., Fred C. Olson Chapel, 1001 Second Ave., Rockford, with Arnie Conrad officiating.
