Rosalie Boots Obituary

ROSALIE JANE (FROEHLICH MICHAEL) BOOTS UNIONTOWN, PA - Rosalie Jane (Froehlich) Michael Boots, of Uniontown and Las Cruces, N.M., passed on to be with our Lord Friday, Aug. 2, 2013, in Kalispell, Mont. She had suffered a stroke while traveling by train from Seattle, Wash., to Pittsburgh with her husband. Rosalie was born Nov. 8, 1940, in Rockford, Ill., to Raymond John and Zudora (Miller) Froehlich. She was preceded in death by her parents and her brother, Raymond Joseph "Joe" Froehlich. She is survived by her husband, L. Wesley "Wes" Boots, of Uniontown; son, Doren (Paula) Michael, of Uniontown; daughter, Krista Michael (Chris Cramer) and their sons, Christian and Isaac, of Las Cruces, N.M.; her stepson, Charles "Chip" (Carrie) Boots and their children, Abigail "Abby" and Elijah Gilbert and Grace Boots, of New Stanton; her stepson, Timothy "Tim" (Emily) Boots of Pittsburgh, PA; and many family members and friends. Rosalie was an active member of Otterbein United Methodist Church in Connellsville, PA and an active participant at Morning Star United Methodist Church in Las Cruces, N.M., when she resided there. Rosalie graduated from East High School in Rockford, Ill. She earned her B.A. in English from Wartburg College in Waverly, Iowa, in June 1962, where she received the "Maggie" Award honoring outstanding seniors in communication arts. Rosalie also earned a master's in library science from the University of Pittsburgh. Rosalie taught English and science to elementary students as a Peace Corps volunteer on the island of Mindanao in the Philippines from June 1962 to October 1963. Rosalie's other professional experience involved teaching secondary school English, co-owning NPW Consultants and working as a librarian at Seton Hill College in Greensburg, PA. Rosalie served in various volunteer capacities for the AAUW, Girl Scouts of Southwestern PA, church mission trips to Russia and Illinois, church choir and United Methodist Women. Her hobbies and interests included sewing, cooking and gardening. She especially enjoyed genealogical research and spending time with her family. Arrangements have been entrusted to Andrew D. Ferguson Funeral Home, 80 Morgantown St., Uniontown. A memorial service will be held at 3 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 17, 2013, in Otterbein United Methodist Church, 201 Lincoln Ave., Connellsville, with the Rev. Dr. Andrew Spore officiating. The family will receive visitors in the Otterbein UMC Memorial Library at 2 p.m., prior to the service. Another memorial service will be held at a later date in Las Cruces, N.M. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to memorials at the Otterbein United Methodist Church, Connellsville, and at Morning Star United Methodist Church, 2941 Morning Star Drive, Las Cruces, NM 88011.
