Roscoe Burks Obituary
Roscoe C. Burks Sr., of Rockford departed this earthly life January 19, 2017 at Park Strathmoor Nursing Home. He was born February 28, 1936 in Belzoni, MS the son of Percy Sr. and Geneva Burks. Roscoe lived in Rockford since his early childhood coming from Mississippi. He was employed as a assembler by Chrysler Corporation 35 years before retiring. Roscoe was a former member of Progressive Missionary Baptist Church. He graduated from West High School later to receive his Bachelors Degree from Jackson State University. Roscoe leaves to cherish many loving memories, 3 daughters, Kimberly (Quincy) Burks– Wimbush, Ashley Burks and Christina Burks; son, Roscoe (Renee) Burks Jr.; 8 grandchildren, 4 great-grandchildren: former wife and companion; Shirley Burks; sisters, Lola Burks, Elsie Larkin, Geneva Burks, Delores DeVaul and Juanita Phillips; 2 brothers, Louis Burks and Percy Burks Jr.; a host of nieces, nephews other relatives and friends. He was predeceased by his parents, brothers, Benny and Leroy Burks and sister, Zola Burks.
Services will be held 11 a.m. Saturday, January 28, 2017 at No Cross No Crown Fellowship 1715 9th Street. Burial in Cedar Bluff Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 9 a.m. until the time of service. Arrangements completed by Carl E. Ponds Funeral Home 2429 W. State Street.

Sorry for the loss of your loved one. I met Roscoe when I lived in Rockford, and he was always a man with a smile. He always dressed SPIFFY, and you could not tell him he wasn't CLEAN. Cherish the memories you have of your loved one, and this will help you in the days to come when you lay him to rest. Rest in Heaven my friend.
