Roy Ahlquist

ROY E. AHLQUIST, 86 ROCKFORD - Roy E. Ahlquist, 86, of Rockford died at 9:30 p.m. Tuesday, May 15, 2012, in Alden Park Strathmoor. Born Feb. 20, 1926, in Rockford, son of Eric and Josephine (Anderson) Ahlquist. He was an East High School graduate and served in the U.S. Army during World War II. Roy was a partner at Rockford Specialties. He married Nancy L. Benson on June 16, 1951, in Rockford; she died July 22, 2010. Roy was a member of Robert Carlson American Legion Post, enjoyed fishing, golfing, and bowling. He is survived by daughters, Janice (Tom) Vaassen of Winnebago and Karen (Wayne) Lindquist of Rockford; son, Robert (Cindy) Ahlquist of Rockford; grandchildren, Cameron and Kaleb Vaassen, and Justin Ahlquist. Also predeceased by parents; brother, John Ahlquist; and sister, Dorothy Ahlquist. Roy's family would like to thank the staff at Alden Park Strathmoor for the wonderful care given to him. Funeral service at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, May 19, in Olson Funeral & Cremation Services Ltd., Fred C. Olson Chapel, 1001 Second Ave., with the Rev. Dean Parker officiating.
