Rune Tengren Obituary
Rune W. Tengren, 96, of Rockford, found peace on December 14, 2016, with his wife of 69 years by his side. Born in Skona, Sweden on April 30, 1920 to Gustav & Ellen (Johnson) Tengren. He married Jeanne Lund on August 23, 1947. He was a World War II Veteran, awarded the Bronze Star and Purple Heart. He retired from Bachrodt Chevrolet after working for many years in automobile sales. He was an avid Chicago Bears fan and he loved to fish, especially on trips to Canada. He also loved woodworking and could fix anything imaginable. A faithful member of Alpine Lutheran Church for over 50 years, he was the happiest when spending time with his family. He was generous to a fault and had a knack for making jokes at just the right time. He is survived by his wife, Jeanne; children, Steve (Cheryl) Tengren and Karen (James) Ely; grandchildren, Rya, Kara and John Tengren. He is further survived by 7 great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, many wonderful friends and extended family. Predeceased by his parents, sisters Marie, Sonja and Vivian, and his niece Janet.The family would like to give a special thank you to caring staff at Hospice Care of America and the 7th floor nurses at Swedish American Hospital.
A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, December 21, 2016 in Alpine Lutheran Church, 5001 Forest View Ave., Rockford, IL, with visitation from 10 a.m. to 10:45 a.m. In lieu of flowers, memorials to Alpine Lutheran Church or a charity of your choice. Mrs.Tengren and family,
Rick and I are sorry to hear of Mr.Tengren passing. Rick will be at the funeral and i will be home saying a prayer for him to have eternal peace and you all to have him as an angel from heaven.
