RUSSELL H. EKSTROM, 91 BYRON - Russell H. Ekstrom, 91, passed away Tuesday, March 2, 2010, in Neighbor's Rehab Care Center in Byron. Born April 9, 1918, in Rockford, the son of Henning and Maria (Larson) Ekstrom. Employed by Greenlee Brothers for 10 years, and for 40 years with Ekstrom-Carlson Co. in Rockford as a precession machinist. He retired in 1983. Member of All Saints Lutheran Church in Byron, Mount Morris Moose Lodge and lifetime member of the Svithoid Club in Rockford. He resided in Byron on the Rock River for 63 years. Survived by son, Randall Ekstrom of Carbondale; daughter, Diane (Keith) Seibert of Tampa, Fla.; stepchildren, Karin (Greg) Haney and Kathleen (Jack) Hildebrand, all of Memphis, Tenn.; grandchildren, Jody Brown, Leah Ekstrom, Andrew Haney, Matthew Haney, Rachel Hildebrand, Marc Mera and Karyn Roeling; five great-grandchildren; and many beautiful nieces, nephews, and great-nieces and -nephews who also claim him as Grandpa. Predeceased by his loving wife, Arlene; parents; brothers, Laurence, Robert and Richard; and sisters, Martha, Sylvia and Mary Jane. Service at 11 a.m. Friday, March 5, in All Saints Lutheran Church, Byron, with visitation from 10 a.m. to time of service; the Rev. Scott Schmidt, pastor, will officiate.
