Vivan Levin Obituary
Vivan C. Severin Arvidson Levin, 91, of Rockford, passed away on Wednesday, January 18, 2017, at Fairhaven Christian Retirement Center. She was born April 7, 1925 in Rockford; the daughter to Carl E. and Tekla (Swanson) Severin. Vivan was a 1943 graduate of East High School. She married George O. Arvidson in 1944; he predeceased her in 1957. She later married Per W. Levin on July 13, 1963; he predeceased her April 18, 2010. She was a member of First Free Church, Selina Circle, Swedish Historical Society, and Rockford Christian Women's Club. She is survived by her children, Judy (John) Thomas of McFarland, WI, Alan (Judy) Arvidson of Cary, IL, Gary (Denise) Arvidson of Rockford, IL, Sheila (Tracy) Stenger of Rockton, IL, and Andrea (Jeff) Beck of Columbia City, IN, grandchildren, Julie Thomas, Jayne (Tom) Sandine, Carrie and Kevin (Lynn) Arvidson, Karl (Santa) Arvidson and Kysa (Josh) Lisitza, Keith Larson, Lenah and Megan Beck, Adam Steiner, Dianna (Alex) Gomez and Stephanie Moore; great-grandchildren, James, Derek and Linnea Sandine, Cambria and Emerson Lisitza, Callum Arvidson, Jozlynn, Arthur, William and Michael Gomez, Wylde and Ceora Westbrooke; sisters, Viola Grindle, Britta (Tom) Peterson both of Rockford and Barbara Chapman of Lillian, AL; brother, Armer (Phyllis) Severin of Rockford, IL, and numerous nieces and nephews. Predeceased by sisters, Jeannette Severin and Verna Ekedahl.
Memorial service will be at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, January 24, 2017, at Fairhaven Christian Retirement Center, 3470 N. Alpine Rd. with Rev. Chuck Rife officiating. Memorial visitation will be from 10:15 a.m. to 10:45 a.m. prior to the service at Fairhaven. Private burial in Arlington Memorial Park. Memorials to First Free Church Missions, 2223 N. Mulford Rockford, IL 61107, Pregnancy Care Center, 4108 Morsay Dr. Rockford, IL 61107, or Northern Illinois Hospice, 4215 Newburg Rd. Rockford, IL 61108. We will miss you Vivan. I remember when I was 7 we would go up to Per & Vivan's cottage at Lake Kegonsa and we would sleep in the bunk beds. It was a neat Log house and even the inside walls where made out of 3 inch long sticks. We could look thru the stick walls from the bunk bed and see the living room and SPY on every body. My sincere sympathy to all of you at this time of great loss. Your mom was one of the nicest people I've ever known. I spent many hours at your house as a teenager. May she rest in peace with our heavenly father.
