James Lee "Jim" Wimberly

1931 - 2019

Jim was proceeded in death by his parents James L. (Lee) Wimberly Sr. and Mable A. Wimberly. Survived by his daughter Sara R. Bowen of Albuquerque NM, his son James D. Wimberly of Ruidoso. NM and grandson Brent Bowen and fiancé Cara Reitz of El Paso Texas. Jim is also survived by his brother Edward L. Wimberly and his sister in law Carol of Henderson, NV.
Jim grew up on ranches in northern New Mexico and moved to Ruidoso in 1941. Jim graduated from the first high school class of Ruidoso High School in 1949. After high school Jim joined the Air Force and served for four years in air training command. Jim moved back to New Mexico and worked as a civilian at Holloman Air Force base at White Sands. Jim married Ruth Overstreet in December of 1958. Jim and Ruth moved to Ruidoso in 1960. Jim started Wimberly Electric and subsequently was a builder, developer and realtor. Jim was one the pioneers of the building industry in Lincoln County and developed Alto Alps Condominiums in 1971. Jim continued to build and manage his real estate holdings well into his 70's & 80's. Jim was an active member of Rotary International for over 60 years and continued to attend meetings until his death.
Jim died in Albuquerque as he succumbed to a long battle with congestive heart failure. Intermit will be at Forest Lawn Cemetery, with a private family service. Donations in Jim's honor can be made to the Ruidoso Rotary Club, P.O. Box 495, Ruidoso, NM 88355.
