Edith McKeighan Obituary

BRANDON - Edith Mae McKeighan, age 79, died Tuesday, June 4, 2013, at Fletcher Allen Health Care in Burlington.

Mrs. McKeighan was born May 3, 1934, in Underhill, the daughter of Kenneth and Doris (Lyons) Alger. She moved with her family to Brandon in 1941 and graduated from Brandon High School in 1952.

She and George W. McKeighan were married in Brandon on August 1, 1952.

Mrs. McKeighan was a life-long homemaker who was devoted to her family.

She enjoyed crocheting, gardening and crossword puzzles.

She was a former member of the Ladies Auxiliary of Post 55, American Legion in Brandon.

She is survived by her children: Dennis McKeighan and his wife, Sarah, Leicester; Barry McKeighan and his wife, Nancy, Brandon; Paul McKeighan and his wife, Ildiko, Brandon; Wanda Perron and her husband, Kevin, Brandon; and Cathy Rawson and her husband, Michael, Brandon; a sister, Elaine Bissette, Brandon; 13 grandchildren, 9 great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews and her beloved cats, Phoebe and Lizzy. Mrs. McKeighan was predeceased by her husband on April 25, 2009; her parents and a brother, Wendell Alger.

The funeral will be conducted Saturday, June 8, 2013, at 1 p.m. in the Brandon First Congregational Church. A graveside service and burial will follow in Pine Hill Cemetery in Brandon.

A time of fellowship, remembrance and a luncheon will be held afterwards in the Brandon Congregational Church Fellowship Hall.

Friends may call at the Miller and Ketcham Funeral Home, 26 Franklin Street in Brandon, on Friday, June 7, 2013, from 5 to 8 p.m.

Memorial contributions, in lieu of flowers, may be made to the Brandon Rescue Squad, PO Box 232, Brandon, VT 05733; or the Rutland County Humane Society, 765 Stevens Road, Pittsford, VT 05763.
