Elaine Bissette Obituary
She was born in Westford on June 2, 1931, the daughter of Kenneth and Doris (Lyons) Alger.
She graduated from Brandon High School in 1949.
On Aug. 25, 1952, she married Henry Lewis Bissette. Mr. Bissette died in 2009.
In earlier years, Mrs. Bissette worked as a seamstress at Van Raaulte in Middlebury. She was later employed in the meat department and as a cashier at the Grand Union store in Brandon, retiring in 1994 after more than 23 years of service.
She was a communicant at St. Mary's Church in Brandon, a member of Neshobe Old Time Fish & Game Club and honorary member of Neshobe Sportsman's Club.
She enjoyed camping, playing cards, gardening and crocheting.
Survivors include three sons, Neil Bissette of Forest Dale, Tony and Steven Bissette, both of Brandon; a daughter, Gay Marie Carmichael of Forest Dale; six grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren; several nieces, nephews and cousins.
Mrs. Bissette was also predeceased by an infant daughter, Ann Marie Bissette; a brother, Wendell Alger; and a sister, Edith McKeighan.
The funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Wednesday, Nov. 5, at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Brandon with the Rev. Albert "Skip" Baltz as celebrant, followed by burial in St. Mary's Cemetery and then a reception at St. Mary's Parish Hall.
Friends may call from 5 to 7 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 4, at the Miller & Ketcham Funeral Home in Brandon where a vigil service will be held at 6:45 p.m.
Memorial contributions, in lieu of flowers, may be made to Brandon Area Rescue Squad, PO Box 232, Brandon, VT 05733; or Rutland Area Visiting Nurse Association & Hospice, in care of Rutland Health Foundation, 160 Allen St., Rutland, VT 05701.

Aunt Elaine you will be greatly missed. I always loved visiting and spending time with you. I grew up at camp with you n uncle Henry and you both were very dear to me. I remember many nights at camp play cards and sitting by the camp fire when I was younger even as I got older camp was always fun. You will be missed very much. My thoughts and prayers are with the whole family. I love and miss you all.

To Elaine's family, so sorry, but I know no words can help the way you all are feeling right now. I have known Elaine since I was born I grew up with her kids and then I married her nephew Lonnie, so we have had a long time friendship. Elaine and Henry were like second parents to me and always treated me with respect and love. I will miss them both forever. lisa, trisha, and Kenneth were lucky to have her as an great aunt, she always asked how they were doing. I could go on and on about how great and loving she was, but will save it for wed. love to all of you.

I always enjoyed seeing you and our conversations whether in person or over the phone. I still use your famous 'baked beans' family receipe. You will be missed Elaine and I will keep all of your family in my prayers and I offer them my condolences.
