Elmira Allen Obituary

PERKINSVILLE - Elmira E. Allen, 95, formerly of Reading, died Saturday, Nov. 3, 2012, at Springfield Health & Rehabilitation Center.

She was born June 22, 1917, in North Springfield, the daughter of Leonard G. and Lena (Parker) Longe.

She graduated from Springfield High School in 1935.

On March 4, 1938, she married Donald E. Roys who died in 1970. On March 28, 1976, she married Wayne A. Allen who died in 1992.

Mrs. Allen was employed at Springfield Hospital for many years.

She was a member of Columbia Rebekah Lodge #21 in Springfield, Home Arts Home Demonstration Club and the Wednesday Niters Club.

Survivors include a son, Roger Roys of Springfield, six grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren, several great-great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews and cousins.

She was also predeceased by three children, Sylvia Roys in 1942, Patricia Bashaw in 2011 and Gilbert Roys in 1994; and four siblings, Wendell and Barbara Longe, Shirley Holley and Helen Gilmore.

The funeral service will be held at 3 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 7, at Davis Memorial Chapel in Springfield, where friends may call from 2 p.m. prior to the service officiated by the Rev. Gerry Piper, pastor of United Methodist Church.

Burial will follow in Oakland Cemetery in Springfield.

Memorial contributions may be made to Springfield Health & Rehabilitation Center Activities Fund, 105 Chester Road, Springfield, VT 05156.
