Helen D. Gallagher

Helen Doreen (Nugent) Gallagher, of Rutland, passed away Nov. 11, 2017, surrounded by her loving family.
Helen was born Jan. 2, 1935, to Helen B. (Mahoney) and Edward M. Nugent, of Rutland, VT.
Helen graduated from Mount St. Joseph Academy class of 1953 and Rutland Business College.
On May 3, 1958, she married Edward P. Gallagher Sr. who predeceased her in 1996 after a long, loving marriage.
Helen is survived by her sons Edward P. Gallagher Jr. and wife Anne, of Port Richey, FL, Francis A. and wife Mary Ann, Joseph T. and Charles A. Sr. and wife Melissa, all of Rutland, VT.
She is also survived by her daughters Mary T. Clifford, Catherine A. and husband John Hock, H. Bridgid and husband Everett Porter, all of Rutland, VT, and her brother, Francis A. and wife Lynn Nugent, of Prescott, AZ.
She is further survived by her loving grandchildren Shannon Gallagher, of Boston, MA, Joshua Hock, of Chicago, IL, Zachary Gallagher, of Providence, RI, Elizabeth Hock, of Myrtle Beach, SC, Casey Clifford, Maggie Gallagher, Kiana Porter and Charles Gallagher Jr., all of Rutland, VT, and great-granddaughter, Skyler Greene, also of Rutland, VT.
Along with her loving husband, Helen was predeceased by her brothers Edward M., the Rev. Joseph T. and William Nugent; also, her sisters Margaret Flaherty and Mary Nugent.
Funeral services will be held Friday, November 17 at 11 a.m. at St. Peter Church on Convent Avenue, Rutland, VT, and burial to follow in Calvary Cemetery. A reception will follow services at South Side Steak House on South Main Street, Rutland, VT.
