Lawrence Bresette Sr.

FLORENCE - Lawrence "Larry" Bresette Sr., 85, died Thursday, Sept. 8, 2016, at Rutland Regional Medical Center.
Mr. Bresette was born in Pittsburg, N.H., on April 24, 1931. He was the son of Linwood and Hazel Bresette. He was raised and grew up in Clarksville, N.H.
He was a veteran of the Korean War, having served in the U.S. Army's 300th Artillery Battalion. Following his honorable discharge in April 1954, he moved to Brandon.
On June 12, 1954, he married Dorothy Fay Wheeler in the Brandon Baptist Church. They made their home in Brandon, where Mr. Bresette worked as a woodsman for Wood Chuck Lumber Co. for over 20 years and afterwards for Wyman-Frasier Sawmill for over 26 years. He had also cut pulpwood in his earlier years.
Mrs. Bresette predeceased him on Feb. 8, 2012. He then moved to Florence to make his home with his daughter. He enjoyed hunting and fishing.
Surviving are his daughter, Darlene Chapin of Florence, with whom he made his home, and one son, Larry Bresette Jr. of Brandon; one brother, Robert Bresette of Rutland; three sisters, Joy Towle and Joann Bresette, both of Clarksville, N.H., and Dorothy Redman of Orlando, Fla.; five grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
In addition to his wife he was also predeceased by two brothers, Linwood Bresette Jr. and Frederick Bresette; and two sisters, Janet Bryant and Marjorie Prescott.
The funeral service will be held on Tuesday, Sept. 13, at 10 a.m. at the Miller & Ketcham Funeral home in Brandon. The Rev. Wanda Dwy will officiate.
The graveside committal service and burial, with military honors, will follow in Pine Hill Cemetery.
Following the ceremony the family will receive friends at Brandon American Legion Post #55.
