Louise Park Obituary

GRAFTON - Louise R. Park, 92, after a brief illness, died Friday, May 4, 2012, at Dartmouth-Hitchcock Memorial Hospital.

She was born November 3, 1919, in Rome, N.Y., the first child of Frank J. and Anna (Worden) Roberts.

She is survived by her sons, Charles R. Turo and wife Pam of Addison, Vt., Martin R. E. Turo of Surrey, British Columbia, and her daughter, Cynthia A. Turo of Fair Haven, Vt.; stepchildren, Ann Kuusela and husband George of Rockingham, Robert Park and wife Barbara of Gibsonia, Pa.; and her step-niece, Martha Desrochers and husband Dick. She is also survived by numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and several more nieces and nephews.

She was predeceased by her husband, Charles L. Park Jr., who died in 1978, her parents, her brother, James Roberts, and stepdaughter Nancy White.

Louise was well known in the Grafton and Bellows Falls areas for her community involvement and service over the past 30 years. Among her activities was the founding of the Rockingham Area Land Trust and service on the boards of various community organizations such as Park's Place and SEVCA. She also served in various roles for the Town of Grafton including committee membership, auditor, and over the years, was always there to give suggestions, opinions and expertise.

A service in celebration of Louise's life will be held at St. Luke's Episcopal Church on Wednesday, May 23, 2012, at 11 a.m. A reception will follow in the parish hall. A private burial in Middletown Cemetery will take place at a later time. Louise's children ask that, in lieu of flowers, memorial donations be made to Park's Place in Bellows Falls.

Grammy Louise was an inspiration. In her last few days she told me, “that everybody needs somebody.” But in life she taught me that we, as women, can stand alone and lead a full and rewarding life.
