Mary I. Plouffe

BRIDPORT - Mary I. Plouffe, 82, died Monday, March 27, 2017, at Helen Porter Healthcare & Rehabilitation Center.
She was born May 25, 1934, in Benson, the daughter of Bernard and Velna (Doane) Burke.
She and her husband, Jean-Noel Plouffe, started the Plouffe Family Farm in Bridport in 1961 and she worked as a cook and site manager for Bridport Senior Center.
Mrs. Plouffe was a member of St. Bernadette's Catholic Church and the church Altar Society, as well as Bridport Ladies Auxiliary.
She was also a 4-H leader for many years and enjoyed cooking, gardening, collecting and sharing recipes, and watching Little House on the Prairie.
Survivors include her husband, of Bridport, whom she married Sept. 3, 1960, in Orwell; her children, Bernadette Boyle, of Tomball, Texas, Marcel and Paul Plouffe, both of Bridport, Lise Fifield, of Middlebury, and Suzanne Sampson, of Ladson, South Carolina; her sister, Catherine Rochon, of Rutland; grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
She was predeceased by her siblings, Theresa Nantel and Donald Burke.
Calling hours will be from 6 to 9 p.m. Friday, March 31, at Sanderson-Ducharme Funeral Home, 117 South Main St., Middlebury.
The funeral Mass will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Saturday, April 1, at St. Bernadette's Catholic Church, Bridport, with the Rev. William Beaudin as the celebrant.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks for blood donations to American Red Cross blood drives.
