Matthew Prouty Obituary
He was born in Bennington on May 4, 1957, the son of Raymond B. and Lura (Oldham) Prouty Sr. He attended local schools, graduating from Mount Anthony Union High School in 1975.
He married the former Pamela Krawczyk on July 25, 1981, at Sacred Heart St. Francis de Sales Church.
Mr. Prouty had an excellent mechanical ability which he used as a machinist at Sibley Manufacturing, U.S.T. and in his own small engine repair business. He enjoyed working on his classic cars and trucks and shared this passion with his family. He was a regular at area car shows. He enjoyed tag sales and flea markets and listening to music.
When he was younger he enjoyed hunting, fishing and camping. He was a former member of the Bennington Moose Lodge.
He leaves his wife Pamela of 33 years; son Daniel Prouty; daughters Katie Briggs and Jennifer Prouty; brothers Raymond B. Prouty Jr. and Thomas Prouty, all of Bennington; two granddaughters; two step-grandchildren; several nieces, nephews and cousins.
He was predeceased by a brother, Larry, sister Lura and a grandson.
Funeral services will be held at the Hanson Walbridge & Shea Funeral Home on Wednesday, Jan. 28, at 11 a.m. with the Rev. Robert Wiseman officiating. Burial will follow in the Park Lawn Cemetery.
Friends may call at the funeral home on Tuesday from 4 to 8 p.m. when the family will be present.

I WORKED WITH SCOTT FOR 25 YRS. HE WAS A GOOD MAN GOOD FATHER AND A GREAT HUSBAND. HE ALWAYS PUT HIS FAMILY 1ST. I MOVED JUST OUT SIDE OF NYC I JUST GOT WORD OF HIS DEATH. I AM HEART BROKEN. HE WILL BE MISSED BUT NEVER FORGOTTEN. MAY PEACE BE FOUND TO THE ENTIRE PROUTY FAMILY. MAY HE REST IN PEACE.
