Roger Conant Obituary

CHARLESTOWN, N.H. - Roger W. Conant, 71, died Friday, June 2, 2017, surrounded by family, following years of declining health.
He was born Aug. 15, 1945, in Claremont, the son of Dave and Aune Conant, of Charlestown.
He graduated in 1963 from Charlestown High School.
Mr. Conant married Carol Aiken in 1966 and had three children, Chris, Amy and Hilary. In 1984, he married Connie-Dee Murray, of Springfield, Vermont.
He served in the Air Force from 1965-1969 as a radar operator in Thailand and Vietnam.
After military service, he was employed at Fellows Gear Shaper in Springfield until 2002. He also worked at Sullivan Machine in Claremont for a few years and then at the VA in White River Junction from 2007 to 2012 in the housekeeping department.
Mr. Conant enjoyed hiking and canoeing, swimming and fishing on the Connecticut River.
Survivors include his mother, of Unity; his wife and his son, Christopher Conant, both of Charlestown; two daughters, Amy Conant, of Andover, Vermont, and Hilary Conant, of Montpelier, Vermont; a stepson, Matthew Ellison, of Wakefield, Massachusetts; two grandchildren; three siblings, Betsey Clark, of Lebanon, Maine, David Conant, of Barnard, Vermont, and Brian Conant, of Charlestown; many nieces and nephews.
The celebration of his life will begin with a calling hour at 1 p.m. Thursday, June 8, at Charlestown Memorial Chapel, followed by a service at 2 p.m. and then refreshments at the Charlestown VFW on Lovers Lane Road.
