Sacramento, California - Ai Yang of Sacramento, California, passed away on December 17, 2022, among her loved ones. She was 83 years old. Ai was married to the late Naotoua Thao and they were blessed with a bountiful family. Ai is survived by her five sons and three daughters: Neng Thao, Amanda Thao, Roger Thao, Chong Thao, Dee Saetho, Vang Thao, Ye Thao, and Choua Thao. She was a beloved grandmother to 41 grandchildren and 20 great-grandchildren.
Ai was born in Laos. In her lifetime, she experienced the chaos of war and the resulting struggles and heartaches including the loss of a young child on the journey to find refuge in Thailand. She came to the United States in 1994 with her family and settled in Sacramento, California. Ai and her husband utilized their skillset as accomplished farmers gained from their agricultural life in the villages of Thailand and Laos by continuing to be avid gardeners in the U.S. They provided their family with an abundance of harvest for many years.
In January 2017, Ai suffered a stroke which resulted in her becoming disabled and wheelchair-bound. She was cared for until her passing by her children and grandchildren. After the loss of her husband in April 2021, Ai felt bereft without her life partner. She joins her husband now to rest peacefully knowing she leaves a thriving legacy. She was loved and will be missed.
Funeral services will be held February 11, 2023 through February 13, 2023 at Longcheng Memorial Service, Sacramento, CA. She will be laid to rest beside her husband at Camellia Memorial Lawn on February 13, 2023.
