Alida CHRISTY Obituary

CHRISTY, Alida Jane
Died December 24, 2012 in Portland, Oregon. She was born September 6, 1917 in Richland, Kansas to parents Claude Terrell, a farmer (and part-time bootlegger) and Lillian Terrell (Sage), a teacher. Jane grew up on her father's farm outside Topeka. She was an accomplished dancer and opened a dance studio while still in high school. After high school, she accepted a movie contract from Paramount Pictures and worked in Hollywood for a time as a chorus dancer in Gene Autry movies. She soon moved back to Kansas, however, and during WWII worked for North American Aircraft assembling B-25 bombers. She took another wartime job in Washington DC with Trans World Airlines and there met future husband, Roy Heacock, an engineer with the Army Corps of Engineers. The couple moved to Whittier in the 1950's where they raised their two children, Michael and Claudia. In 1976, Jane moved to Sacramento to be near her daughter and grandchildren. In 1997, Jane married Comer Christy, an old boyfriend from Topeka High. The couple lived in Florida until his passing in 2000. Jane is survived by a brother, Edwin Terrell, daughter Claudia Robinson (Heacock), grandchildren Josiah Heacock, Charleen Clark, Andrew Robinson and Michele Fletcher (Robinson). She was predeceased by son Michael Heacock and husband Roy Heacock. Jane was an American woman through and through. Known affectionately as 'Mongie' by her grandchildren and their friends, she will be missed and remembered with love by all who knew her. She is interred at Rose Hills Cemetery in Whittier.
