Allan Peters Obituary

December 16, 2017 Allan Leo "Pete" Peters, (CMSGT USAF retired), age 96, died peacefully in his sleep December 16, 2017 at Summer Vista Assisted Living Facility, Pensacola, FL. Pete was born to parents, Leo M. and Anna T. Peters, on November 28, 1921 in Palo Alto, CA. He graduated from San Jose Technical High School in 1938. He enlisted in the Army Air Corp is 1939 and saw service in the WWII Asia Pacific Campaign as a member of the 93rd Bomb Squadron, 19th Bomb Group where he was awarded the Bronze Star. He married Eloise Marie King, his bride of 69 years, and raised five children, Allan, Bryan, Kriss, Catherine, and Daneen. Pete transferred from the Army Air Corp to the newly formed US Air Force in 1947 and continued his military career for 25 years before retiring in 1964 and relocating his family to Rio Linda, CA. He worked several various positions and attended American River Community College before returning to the flight line at McClellan AFB in Sacramento, CA as a Civil Service worker. He continued there until he fully retired in 1984. He was an active member of the IOOF Capitol Lodge #2 Patriarchs Militant Department of California. In 2004 he packed up and moved to Pensacola, FL to fully enjoy retirement. Pete was preceded in death by his parents Leo and Anna Peters; sister, Barbara Van Wormer; wife, Eloise; son, Allan; and son -in-law, Robert Wright. He is survived by his sister, Bernice (Daley); sons, Bryan (Linda), Kriss (Evelyn); daughters, Catherine (Larry Skelding) and Daneen (Wright), fourteen grandchildren; twenty-three great grandchildren; three great-great grandchildren; and many beloved nieces and nephews. Trahan Family Funeral Home in Pensacola, FL is in charge of arrangements. In Lieu of flowers or gifts, a contribution to your favorite charity would be appropriate. A Peters Family Memorial honoring their last wishes to be rejoined and scattered in the Pacific Ocean is being planned for early spring 2018.

While looking up the spire at the United States Air Force Memorial near Washington, D.C. one receives a feeling of ascent and becoming airborn.

Thank you for allowing chevaliers of IOOF to attend honor guard detail at Golden Gate National Cemetery in our full dress uniform.
