Angelina Gaters Obituary
It is with profound sadness that we share the passing of our beloved matriarch, Dr. Angelina de Vera Gaters, DDS, M.Ed. at the age of 94 on November 5, 2024.
A resident of Sacramento since 1971, she died of natural causes at the age of 94. Angelina was also known as Doña Soling or Sol amongst family and close friends. Sol was born September 28, 1930 in Manaoag, Pangasinan in the Philippines to Aurelio Rocea and Martha (Alarcio-Lanoza) de Vera. Sol was a woman of immense curiosity, humor, wisdom and drive. In addition to being a dedicated wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother she held many hats outside the home including dentist and special education teacher.
In addition to her interest in pursuing on-going education, her life was filled with passions including dress making on her 1930s manual Singer machine, running small businesses and later in life playing mahjong and rummy with her friends on weekends.
Sol is survived by her children: Willy (Teri) Gaters, Vera (Kirk) Gaters-Abel, Willie (Virginia) Gaters, Christia Gaters, and Angeles Gaters-Gates. She was adored by her grandchildren: Lina, Justin (Marlowe), Angelina (Jinno), Jennifer, Eufrosina, Steven, Jonathan, Martha, Melody (Sam), Joann and Nina. Her legacy extends to great-grandchildren: Jaeden, Levi, Liberty, Kirei, Lyric, Maliyah, Sean, Sunday, Goku, Josiah, Aria, Jacob, and Azriel. She is also survived by her loving sister Charito (Juan) Navalta and brother Aurelio (Dominga) de Vera, Jr.
Sol will be joining her beloved husband, William B. Gaters, daugther Eufrosina Liwayway Gaters, grandchild Justice Angeles Gaters, her parents and siblings: Milagros Nabor, Buenaventura de Vera, Cresencia Laron, Romana Yadao, and Jose de Vera.
Sol was surrounded by her loving family in her final moments. They will continue to honor her legacy by living their lives to the fullest, just as she did.
