Ann Kaelin Obituary
KAELIN, Ann Marie
Age 65, was granted eternal peace in the early morning hours of December 29, 2003. Born Ann Marie McBain on September 2, 1938, in Marshalltown, IA, she emigrated to the State of Washington with her family while still a small child. Upon graduating from Sunnyside H.S. with honors, she went to work for G.E. in Hanford, WA, where she would meet the love of her life, Al Kaelin. She moved to Washington, D.C. & in 1960 she and Al were married. Soon thereafter they moved to Sacramento & started their family. Years later Ann returned to school & received her Masters of Arts in Education from CSUS. She was very involved in regional speech & debate competitions & went on to be a well respected instructor at Sacramento City College. In addition to all of her other accomplishments, Ann was an active and accomplished stage and screen actress in the local community. She was also very successful in the areas of make up and costume design. A lover of nature, Ann would often collect driftwood & sea shells and spent much of her free time fishing & swimming. Her amazing connection with nature was apparent to all who saw when wild deer would accept food from her hand. Ann leaves behind a multifaceted legacy over 30 years which is strewn with selfless acts of charity & a dedication to place others' needs before her own. She could often be seen helping in the "Meals on Wheels" program or volunteering at one of the many shelters & food kitchens. She was also very active in the PTA and the Catholic Church. She had a zest for life & a charismatic personality that attracted people of all ages. Her life is celebrated by her five children, who were her greatest joy: Steven, Annabeth, Pamela, Michael, & Jennifer. She is also survived by her three grandchildren, Julian, Ashley, & Jeffrey; her brother Fred L. McBain; her three nieces, Karen Brazil, Brenda Morrow, Valerie Carey; and her nephew, Frederick McBain. A mass will be held on January 17 at 11:00 AM at St. Anthony Parish, 660 Florin Road, Sacramento, CA 95831. A reception will follow. We will miss you dearly, but now your spirit is free. We love you, Annie/Mom/Mother Goose.
